You can do it with any mouse, but it's easier with a cordless mouse.

As for lagging: Old optical mouse could 'lag' (low refresh rate). If you have a new one, it should be no problem. Some still prefer a mouse with a ball and even with a cord. I tried them all, and I can say that my performance is the same with any mouse, as long as it's not a cheap brand.
