Sure the US of A is the highest funded military in the world, but not as much as all of Europe combined. Of course if this conflict were ever to happen, it would be WW3... or maybe even WW4. I doubt Russia would side with continental Europe, old suspicions die hard, plus Europe was being pretty whiny about defending Chechen terrorists' "rights" while the US more or less supports Russia's actions.
