There were NO blacks in bastogne in 1944, why? Because the army was segregated untill 1946 or 1947 when Truman intregrated the military. There were no black soldiers fighting with the 101st during the divisions entire tour of the eto. However, many blacks served with distinction in all black military units, however the vast majority served as cooks, drivers (the famous redball express), and on the homefront filling in the jobs of the white men that had went to war.
