No one "owns" Antarctica, however there was the treaty of 1961 where it was stated that Antarctica would be preserved for peaceful purposes like scientific research, and prohibits military activity including nuclear tests and disposal of materials. Claims of parts of the Continent are held by Chile, UK, Argentina, Norway, Australia, France, New Zealand and the US.
