If you're one of those victims experiencing unwanted launch of Dial-Up box during execution of Single Player mode (as well as MP mode), which for some is causing system freezes, I spoke with an EA Tech rep who gave me the following fix.

And to my surprise, it actually worked for me. Here it is:

1) Start, Settings, Control Panel
2) Internet Options (which will take you into Internet Properties)
3) Click on Connections tab, and under Dial-up settings make sure "Never dial a connection" is checked.

Hopefully this should solve the problem.
