Speaking of having a medal of honor, I presented a veteran from my town with the silver star. The story is my entire class wrote to Veterans Affairs [VA] and two of our state representatives to make them aware of a guy who had not received his silver star from WW2. He also had not received the purple star which he never got. Anyways, it worked and on Veterans Day 2 years ago we surprised him by acknowledging him with it. That year I was my class president so I got to congratulate him over the loudspeaker [yes I was quite nervous]. The neatest thing was that I was able to get hold the silver star. Even though it was nothing big, it helped me become more interested in WW2. I will probably never forget that day either.
