Blaming this whole war on terror on an single event, group of people is like saying World War 1 started because Germany was simply agreeing to its alliance treaty. It needed more reasons than that to start a war. Similarly today the whole conflict is to be blamed on "imperial power" as some of you would like to acknowlegde it, money, racism and hatred, nationalism, jeolousy, indoctrination and bad policies.
