[quote:083cd]You are taking this as if I am insulting the military. You better sit the fuck down and just shut the F&*^ up. I never insulted the fucking Canadain military I only supported extra funds into it. I thought you would be happy about sonmething like that ?
As for being ill prepared Yes I do beleive this is a fact.. Who nows maybe if they did have a better personel vehicle they would still be alive.
-please what type of camo were our troops sent in with when we first arrived in Afghanistan. ?
take a chill pill.[/quote:083cd]
You are insulting the CF because you said we are ill prepared, you didn't say ill equipped. I know for a fact that the troops in Afghanistan are in no way ill prepared. A lot of those guys have been to Bosnia and Cyprus, they know what their doing.
The fact of the matter is that the ILTIS is the perfect vehicle for Kabul's roads. The streets are narrow and armoured vehicles can't go a lot of places the ILTIS can. Even the Americans don't drive armoured vehicles everywhere. Humvee's aren't armour plated and that explosion would have killed everyone inside of it, if we used them instead of the ILTIS. It wouldn't have made a difference.
Canadian troops had CADPAT TW (Temperate Woodland) pattern when first deployed in 2002. Believe it or not, this works better in afghanistan than the CADPAT AR. There are a lot of shrubs and greens in Afghanistan making it perfect for TW CADPAT. Not to mention most of our work is done at night and since CADPAT has infrared protection designed to conceal soldiers from image intensification devices like night vision, it was not a big deal. You also have to realise that CADPAT is a very new technology. At the time, the factories could not produce enough AR CADPAT for all the soldiers because it must be done by one certified factory. It wasn't that there was a lack of funds, but the technology was too new. And thats beside the fact because TW CADPAT works fine in Afghanistan.
Now all soldiers are fitted with both the TW and AR CADPAT. And you know what? Most of our guys are still using the TW CADPAT design because it conceals them better with the Afghanistan surroundings.
JC-Sharp, there have now been 6 Canadian deaths in Afghanistan.
