Acually, its not the same guy. Steamboat Willie, as the German solder can be called, is part of the wehrmacht. He does get picked up by the germans and shoved back into service, and was at Ramelle, as is shown when Upham and Steamboat Willie run into each other at the end and Upham shoots him. Now, Mellish is stabbed by solder from the Waffen SS (I belive, it was some SS division). Not the same guy.
