Upham heard the fighting going on and he didn't do anything because he was scared.
Upham killed willy because capt.miller was shot by him.

I don't even think upham was ment for war, he was just a translator with NO war experience.

But alot of soldiers that went over didn;t have experience either but upham was with a GOOD ranger group that was doing a "STOP ROMEL's first wave of guys" wich isn't really what they were doing but ended up doing it.
