I feel the same way Quik, some people in war realize that they need to kill others just because when it comes down to the line the people on the other end will kill you to live. but when upham was on the stairs and the SS soldier came down, it was sort of a emotional thing that happened. the SS soldier understood upham was upset about being there, and what is happening around him ,and knew upham wouldent do anything since he removed his hand from his rifle, so he just left. IMOH , if that SS soldier was me, I seriously would have shot upham the instant i saw him on the stairs without giving it second thought. If I had just been in a small fight with two allied soldiers in a room in a building like that, and being the ONLY one who survived out of 5 people (3 germans, 2 allied) I would have made it my buisness to know if more allied troops are coming into the building cause they might be coming to check up on what happened. Once I would have seen upham, I might have thought there would be more behind him and shot him on the stairs and made my way out as fast as possible. I wouldent have even stopped to look at him like the SS soldier did, and wait to see what happens, upham would have been dead in 1 second if that was me
