[quote="{TRC}ZenMaster":de31c]There is no way Im gonna sit here and type a damn chapter of history on the American Civil War.
Look its simple.....
The confederate flag , dispite being used by some as a symbol of slavery and racism , has the heritage of those who faught for it in the civil war.
Now if you have the impression the civil war began , was faught , or ended because of slavery you are mistaken.
This has nothing to do with Germany or the nazi party.
I find that most people of forien nations have no real clue about American History , exept what they have seen at the movie theaters.
Which for the most part is completely false , and is made for the simple desire to make a profitable film.
This would be like me commenting on the the Revolution of a forien country , because I saw a film about it.[/quote:de31c]
A kind of agree and disagree with u. I mean there were men that fought and died for nazi germany but that doesnt mean that the regime was honorable and that the men that believed in it were rightous and deserved to be remembered. But on the other hand the war really wasnt fought over slavery. It truely started over seccession, although slavery had much to do with the seccession, but Lincoln did not want to proclaim that the war would free slaves because he might lose support from the middle states. And just because the North did not support slavery doesnt mean life was an easier for blacks in the North then it was for them in the South. They were still forced to work minial jobs in unsafe conditions. Plus the fact most southerners didnt even own slaves. The south was run more like an oligarchy in which there was an elite class of wealthy landowners who owned many slaves, who controlled the South. Many of the middle class and poor didnt even own slaves.
