After I shoot in Multiplayer, it waits for a second until I see a muzzle flash and a bullet mark. I've got a pentium 3, 56k modem and NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 card. What's wrong?

I'm running the game at the 600x400(close to the numbers.)
