Thats because some pictures had been edited by magazines and newspapers when they were first released.....Supposedly TIME magazine edited the most famous ones, so that the spacemen could be seen well, and because TIME magazine was and so popular around then, those photos became seen the most and were re-used many times by other publishers of various mediums.....

I mean seriously, if you're faking a moon landing, you'd have to be fucking DUMB to forget to apply an extra line on a cross hair.
