Actually, it gets a shitload colder here in Ottawa than it does back home. Newfoundland gets a LOT more snow though. Mind you, it still hits -20C and colder in Newfoundland...and Labrador, well Labrador is an icebox for sure. BRRRRR!

All has to do with the maritime climate...more temperate, but more precipitation.
