The earliest written work man has is called the Enuma Elish, this was written about four thousand years before Christ. It is almost exactly the same as the story of Creation in the book of Genesis. Much of the New Testament is fairy stories, but the Old Testament and the story of creation is the best thing that we have for an explanation of life & the universe.

Point to where I said I expected science to find "the answer to all things".
You can't do that because I NEVER WROTE IT. I do know, however, that
it has given us a standard of living far exceeding that which was promised
by those enthralling others with the teachings of the Bible and the rest of
the mind-numbing religions.

By the way, thank you. What for, you ask ?

You just told me that those who wrote the Bible basically copied their story
from the Enuma. As for the Bible and Genesis being the best explanation
we have for creation and everything that is ? I feel sorry for you. You're
running out of mystical events and phenomena: just as science has de-
mystified a slew of things considered spiritual in the past, so it will debunk
the rest until nothing more is left, leaving you weeping in anger of all the
lost time praying to an entity which has no other existence than in your
mind.[/quote:fdd07]

"Putting on the spectacles of science in expectation of finding an answer to everything looked at signifies inner blindness." are not my words, they are a quote from Frank Dobie & I thought they were fitting to this debate.

Your words do not anger me as mine seemed to have angered you, I am not religious. Or perhaps I misunderstand and you do not intend to include such sarcasm in your posts, but you are actually as rude as this in a public debate without realising it.
You thank me for informing you about the Enuma Elish and its links with Genesis. But do not have the common courtesy to read up on the subject before you reply and end up shooting yourself in the foot. If you had gone to the links I had posted regarding the subject, then perhaps you would have found, to your amazement, that the Enuma Elish has some uncanny resemblences to theories & modern science.

Now I must take the great delight in educating you on your failure to read up on the subject.

The Enuma Elish gives a rough description of the creation of the universe as well as the basic elements;

"Maritu, Maritu (mardjou, the feild of electro-magnet),
Son, majesty, majesty of the Gods!"(the materials)
Clothed in the radiant mantle of the Gods(materials), worn high above His head
Five fearsome rays were clustered above Him.

It's bad form to engage in a debate without having read up on the subject at hand. All you have done is run your mouth with a desperate attempt to annoy & insult whilst giving no evidence to your arguments. Hopefully next time you post you won't make yourself look so ridiculous
