This twisted logic makes absolutely no sense either. You are given total
freedom of choice to believe in him or not, but ... being charitable, nice
and generous throughout the course of your life has no impact on your
going to Hell because you've decided not to believe while an other, lesser
human sheep that made the choice of accepting the Faith in his slumber
will surpass the former and go to a blissful paradise for eternity. Huh ??
Just think of the incredible intelligence and power it would require to make
such a thing as the Universe and now tell me that after pouring your heart
and soul into giving your creations total freedom of choice to live together
as they so please, that you will give them ten rules that they must follow to
the letter (on top of accepting your existence on faith) lest they suffer for all
eternity.
Whatever. If I had to believe in his being, I would assume that he had
implemented a system of reincarnation on different levels to help guide
the souls to higher stages of consciousness; of spiritual growth. After all,
learning must be part of the process of enlightenment so assuming you
had completely failed your life goal, you would simply "go back to school"
until you've learned in order to progress. Sooner or later you would return
to the source...
An intelligent system like the above or "Heaven and Hell". I prefer to think
of the latter as a way to scare the shit out of anyone questioning the "Faith"...
