It's like rappers doing "freestyle" battles: they have hundreds of rhymes
already prepared and they just try to mix'n'match appropriately and hope
it falls into place properly. Your guitarist probably experimented with many
different combinations and added them up together in an sensical order.

Still, it takes a lot of talent to do it so props to them! rock:
Ahahaha, im sorry but you're wrong. Trey does stuff on the top of his head. Phish is a jam band, thats what they do, they improvise.

For the idiots in the crowd, the guitarists i posted were:
John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Steve Vai
and Trey (im not gonna attempt to spell his last name) from Phish.

ANGUS YOUNG WAS A TERRIBLE GUITARIST. I cant STAND him.

And yea, Mr. Levinstien, Hetfield and Mustaine were pretty awesome rhythm guitarists.
My friends band just covered metal songs with his band at the Battle of the Bands at my highschool. They covered:
Megadeth-Rust in Peace...Polaris
Black Sabbath-Fairies with Boots
Led Zeppelin-Black Dog
Metallica-Master of Puppets

They've played plenty of shows at clubs, I've seen them multiple times. They've covered:
Iron Maiden- The Trooper
Slayer- Seasons in the Abyss, Raining Blood
Black Sabbath- War Pigs, Paranoid
Jimi Hendrix-Fire
plus 3 originals which kick ass.

every note of all those songs. My friend (lead/rhythm guitar) who is a sophomore in highschool has been playing since he was 5, thats 10 years, he is amazing.

with all that said, i hate ignorant people.
