When I was in High School as a junior (I'm 30 now) I signed up to go into the Air Force and was in their DEP program. About a month or so later after getting into the program I got a drunk driving and got booted from there. The next day or so, the Marine recruiter contacted me and I was hooked. I learned how to do my current job there. (Network Admin). It's tough, but you gain so much more self respect for yourself and have a ton of confidence to do whatever it is you want to do. You can go to college while you're in the Corps if you choose. They use to pay for some of it. I don't know if they still do. After all these years, I'm glad I went into the Marines rather than the AIr Force.
