Zee blood is done by using a deepish red colour with the paintbrush or custom grunge brushes. Slap on some red and change the layer style to "Color Burn". You may want to adjust the brightness and contrast to get the amount of "dirt" or darkness in the blood effect.
Add some motion blur to smudge some areas and voila. Plasma and platelets everywhere.
