A Modest Proposal -

No.. not the pamphlet-based satire written by J. Swift.
You see, I've spent my life being called "white" and "caucasian" and I just really find those terms to be offensive and derogatory. I mean, my ancestors who may not have even owned slaves were referred to as "white" and sometimes "caucasian" or even - and most horribly - "cracker." My skin is not white, it is more of a pinkish color. True, neither my parents nor grandparents are from Europe, but somewhere down the line that's where I got my skin color, so I'd really appreciate being called a European-American or - if that is too long - a Eur-Am.
I am asking that the mods of this forum enforce their policy against racial slurs more fairly and extend their enforcement to the word "cracker." I understand that culture is a difficult thing to change, so I can be accepting of being called "white" or "caucasian." But really, since these words are so offensive to me, I'd really prefer to be called European-American. Too long have the racist African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Native Americans, Eskimo-Americans, Indian-Americans, Hebrew-Americans, Arab-Americans, Indonesian-Americans, Polynesian-Americans and Phillipino -Americans labeled me as simply being white. I will stand for this racial profiling, stereotyping and bigotry no longer.
Thank you.
