Well it depends on the part of the brain the putcured wound is..if it hits the coronal then yes it will most likely hurt eminsully, if it hits the brain stem and spinal cord it will hurt less but you wont get up and start walking, if it hits the MRI Axial then your dead...if it hits the most of the major parts like that will hurt a lot, if it went through the Occipital lobe if your lucky it might not hurt because thats were the feeling of pain in most of your body is, but you then wouldnt have much feeling especially not back in the 1850's your feeling of the upper body would be pretty much nothing. The cerebellum would kill you. The parretal lobe wouldnt hurt to much when first impact although after a while during rehabilitation it would give you extreme headaches in the upper back of your head, some ppl known to have sustained injuries in that region have been know to kill themselves because of the horrible long run headaches. But thats about all I know about brain stuff, I only know this cause this is what we are studying now, you ask this question in a few months and Ill be like.."huh...what are you talking about?"
