Dude, sometimes you have to make alliances with shady people to get shit done. We were involved in a global competition with another superpower and it was a means to fight our adversary. This isnt the first or last time the US or any other nation for that matter to make deals with disreputable people. We made deals with Saddam and overlords in South America to fight the Iranians. You cant fight this kind of shit without getting dirty. But there are limits, we dont start blowing up innocent civilians when we hit a road block.
