what OS's are they systems?
do you have forced ip's on them? - i have a netgear router and i let the router assign the ip's

mine = 0.2
2nd = 0.3

while the router = 0.1

if using xp on both systems, all you really have to do is "my network places" - then click "set up a home or small office network" then follow the steps and click on the hub option i think..
