How about having an objective for BOTH sides at once... not the active/passive ones we have now, but both have actives...

Ex: Allies have to cross river Elbe or Rhine or whatever to get to an area and hold it or rescure person / capture flag, whatever, the axis has to destroy the bridges on that river to slow the tide.... the allies have pontoon boats as a backup... something like that would rule. esp. if there were combat engineers for both sides...
