next time you go to the driving range take out a 7 iron. place a small object about an inch in front of the ball. ( i use a broken tee) The idea is this. When you swing the club make the path of the club head down through the ball also hitting the small object in front of the ball.
The reason for this is it will make you stay down on the ball resulting in a much cleaner impact with the ball and also increse the distance and control of the shot.
This excersise is best done in the grass but can also be done on the hitting mats.
