Then how come CD's and movie tickets cost about the same? Same with DVD's and videos? There in NO equitable comparison between game cost, and the rise in piracy. Comparatively speaking, games cost the same today (factoring in demand, buzz factor, etc.) as they did 5 yrs ago.
True enough, 1 billion dollars is a MASSIVE number, however, this takes into account "sales models", not actual tangible figures. I mean, by your logic, because people steal the game - the companies rase the price? What's that accomplish? - just increases the bootleg price. And we certainly cannot tack 1 billion dollars on to "lost" revenue for these companies - that's ridiculous. For that to happen, you would have to assume that those who PIRATED the game, would have turned around and actually BOUGHT it had sufficient anti-piracy measures been in place to 100% prevent theft. And that is of course, a faulty statement.
