The way I see it width is not a factor as there is plenty of space horizontally to put something there. The rule seems to be set however to keep people from having to scroll throught a load of crap in peoples sig areas. Yours takes up more vertical space than mine.. Oh, i belive you. But thats not the point here.
The text is something that is controlled by the forum aswell, in ways of maximum characters.
What im saying is that your total "graphical" area is around 2500 pixels bigger than mine, and text has never been an issue to anyone before you came along.
