Obviously its a graphics problem, I've installed the latest nVidia drivers for Windows 2000, and have updated to DirectX 8.0a. The graphics card is a nVidia GeForce2 MX 200.

The full version was installed in a separate directory to the demo. In fact, I uninstalled the demo first.
