It's an official expansion pack.

There are few details at this point, but the general word is that it's going to add a few more single player levels, but the focus will be on enhancing multiplayer. There will be player classes and more objective based maps. It's rumored to be much like Day of Defeat the WW2 multiplayer mod for Half-Life.
