I am in a similar situation to you capt. Miller except i live in Australia and i have the Asia-Pacific version.
none of the patches work on mine and all the servers have changed to 1.10 and i am stuck on version 1
the only time i get to play mp is if somone with cable running version 1 starts a game.
it really sux big time. :
