Thats a statement based on assumption and nothing else. ONe of the big fps killers in doom is the fact theres multiple light sources casting multiple shadows etc. Outdoors would have only one lighting source. When you look at it an "outdoor map" is really just a large indoormap with a skybox, the doom 3 engine would do these as good as indoor maps. Carmacks not gonna build an enigne that can do indoor and not outdoor and still have it defined as reveloutionary.
