Thanks for your suggestions. We already have much of what you mention... bullet impacts for sand and hedgehogs make unique sounds and have unique effects, for example. Like you noticed, the blood issue is completely not up to us.
And no, bullets will not have real ballistic trajectories. That's an example of something that would add to the realism but detract from the gameplay. Most game players (myself included) would like for the crosshair pointing over something to mean that we are going to hit that something if we shoot. If you want, you can pretend that we do have realistic ballistics, but that the crosshair pre-adjusts for them
