It doesnt make me mad because i was in DEP, and i worked out more than once A DAY, let alone once a month. I didnt get paid shit for that and didnt expect to. I dont know about the airforce but in the Army i got to pick my job, and the only requirments i had to meet where passing training for each of them. My training for the job was garuntee'd by contract, wheather or not i completed that training or passed the course was my own job. Now if i failed one of those sections of training i was at the mercy of "whereever they needed men". Meaning i could be sent anywhere to do pretty much anything. Really do or die.

Besides DEP functions are optional. I only went to two during my entire year in the program. Oh and just a heads up to those thinking of enlisting... I found this out after i joined and was already in hold for training. Appairently if you join, and ship in the same, or next week, depending on when there next shipment goes out. You can get a bigger signing bonus for being "quick deploy" as i heard on kid say. Now, that may just be bullshit, but if you're going to join and you know a year in advance of that you should wait and try it.

What do you have to lose except annoying DEP functions that dont teach you all that much. Go to an army surplus store and see if they have any IET handbooks. Everything that you need to know in basic training is in that little book. Read it 10 times through and memorize it, and your basic training will be a breeze of simply jumping through hoops. Instead of jumping through hoops while trying to learn.
