I just thought of something interesting here. I have handled rifles for a while, and one thing I've deffinitly noticed is the near complete lack of Muzzle flash when firing LIVE rounds.

Even during the late morning, mid day and early evening it is just a bang and a cloud of smokeless powder.

Only during the early morning, late evening and nightime is muzzle flash very noticeable.

This includes Pistols and Machine Guns.

Sometimes, I've noticed a Muzzle Flash from a M1A1 Thompson, Mp-40 and Sten. Again, not every round, just every once and a while.

94% of the time anyways it's just the Powder smoke busting out of the barrel.
