Elmagoo - You say you just had made the Mg-42 Team in the game? How do you have them setup? Realistically speaking, the team would be either an integrated part of a normal rifle squad of which the rifle squad was actually based around. Or they would be a part of a six man heavy machine gun team.

Here is the layout for the Heavy Machine Gun Team.

The Team Leader whom is a NCO leads the team. He is equipped with Binoculars, Pistol, Map Case, Mp-40 with respective pouches and equipment.

The first of five gunners assigned to this team is the main gunner of the weapon. He is equipped with the MG-42, a gunners pouch, E-tool, bayonet, pistol, and binoculars. Also, on his person, there is a starter belt of fifty rounds in the weapon if ordered, and a additional one hundred to two hundred rounds draped around the neck.

The Second gunner is as equipped as the first, but he has no binoculars, and is carrying boxes of two-hundred fifty / three hundred rounds each instead of a MG-42.

The Third Gunner would carry the Laffete mount, although, it is somewhat common not to of been supplied one. He would also be equipped with a rifle and normal rifleman's equipment.

The two remaining soldiers would be carrying rifles and ammunition boxes for the Machine Gun.

When in combat their man duty was to give supporting fire for advancing units, then advance to better positions and hold those untill ordered to either advance or withdrawal.
