I supposed you've already checked with the usual suspects? DirectX, Video card drivers, Sound card drivers, etc etc?

If it's only in multiplaying games, did you notice any clue before crashing back to desktop? ie. got disconnected from server then crash to desktop? Also after you crashed to desktop is the game still running? (check the task manager for running process)
