obvioiusly you need an internet connection (which i presume you have due to posting here) 128k+ is recommended as 56k lags the server.
in call of duty there is an ingame server list. This finds all servers from across the globe just double clicking will allow you to join the game.
may i advise you to get all seeing eye:
http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/ - this is a great program for viewing servers.
