No i'm not.
There is supposed to be probable 10-20 pictures, but they haven't been put up yet. If thier up[ anytime soon, i'll post them as well.
I was part of the assaulting platoons. We had 3 platoons assaulting the building. 2 platoon took the main floor, 1 platoon the upstairs floor, and my platoon the basement. We didn't even get to the basement. 2 platoon was having a lot of trouble clearing this one section of the main floor. So they sent in 3 platoon to get slaughtered. The enemy has some crazy crossfire shit going on. They had also barricaded the door that led to a hallway. So when we got the door down, there was so much rubble and shit in the way it was very difficult to manuver. in the hallway there are 2 rooms offset on either side of the hallway. However we did not know about one of the rooms. My fire team partner and I were sent in to kill the guys in the one room we could see, however, i sson realized after crawling through the rubble and firing a full mag on full auto, that they had an LMG in the opposite room to cut guys down. Needless to say I probably got 10 5.56 rounds in me. Sucks because I had some zip strip handcuffs and some sand bags on me and I wanted to take a few guys prisoner.
Intelligence had pegged tge resistance at 12-15 people in the building, and the threat was medium-high. When we got there, the resistance was high-high, and there were more than 25 enemy in the building. GG intel. If we were going to take out 25 guys, we would require a full company. The odds we play are are usually 3-1 for us. In there we were probably 2-1. OPFOR had also laid mines all teh way up the stairs to the upstairs, and all downstairs. They would then drop grenades ontop of us when we were trying to disable the mines. They also had a lot of wire obstacles and shit in the way everywhere. What would have happened in real life to get the doors down is take a 84mm carl gustav anti tank weapon and blow a hole through it or a wall. in training we can't really do that. in real life we couldn't really have used grenades either because most of the walls were drywall and shrapnall could go through the walls and hit friendlies. However, we could probably just set up a c6 GPMG and shot a few belts of 7.62 through the walls. That would have worked best I think.
I don't blame those guys in Iraq who have to do house clearing for civy casualties. I've realized that if I had to really assault a house, i'm pretty much blasting everything I can. It's sad to say, but true. If there's 1 hostile, and 3 civies, its really tough to tell them apart. especially with bullets going over your head.
Also I was always an advocate of aimed single shots. I hate seeing movies where people are shooting from the hip in full auto. But in house clearing I can see where full auto can come into play. Thats pretty much the ONLY situation I can see it being useful.
