[quote="Garry Coleman":164ee]Jesus died on a Friday- TRUE
Jewish people took Jesus off the cross--TRUE

A Jewish person would NEVER EVER touch a dead body on a Friday. They always wait until the Saturday or Sunday.

Some historians think he was alive when he was off the cross (3 hours is a VERY short time of death considering others took about 8-12 hours to die).[/quote:164ee]

Actually the Sabbath is from sundown Fri evening until sundown Sat evening so they could not of WORKED to take down the body on the sabbath but were free to do so on Fri afternoon.

Luke 23: 52 He approached Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. 53 Taking it down, he wrapped it in fine linen and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever been placed. 54 It was preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. 55 The women who had come with Him from Galilee followed along and observed the tomb and how His body was placed. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Before His 3 hr ordeal on the cross Jesus was beaten, scourged and abused savagely hence was very weak (needed help to carry His cross, also He voluntarily gave up His Spirit as opposed to the spirit leaving Him).

Matthew 27:26-32 ...But after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified. 27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into headquarters and gathered the whole company around Him. 28 They stripped Him and dressed Him in a scarlet robe. 29 They twisted a crown out of thorns, put it on His head, and placed a reed in His right hand. And they knelt down before Him and mocked Him: "Hail, King of the Jews!" 30 Then they spit at Him, took the reed, and kept hitting Him on the head. 31 When they had mocked Him, they stripped Him of the robe, put His clothes on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him. 32 As they were going out, they found a Cyrenian man named Simon. They forced this man to carry His cross.

Matthew 27:50 Jesus shouted again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.
