Im not happy they are deserting, im offended why people instantly call them cowards and traitors when half of the people in this country dont support the war. The article said they tried to get reassigned out of Iraq (though I dont know if they req Afghanistan) but they were turned down. They also apparently lost their application for concientous (sp?) objection status. They had a choice between running to Canada or doing time. I dont know what I would have done, but they were in a tough spot. This war is fucked, guys, people are having their tours extended w/o an end in sight and they are being sent off on some crusade w/o a real clear objective other than to police a country we fucked up. The point of my rant is simply to not immediately call them cowards, pussies and traitors.
