I remember drawing war pictures in the 4th grade. I drew tanks, planes, and bombs going off all over the place and never got into any trouble over it.
I also played "guns" with a bunch of kids my age. I had a .38 Detective Special chrome cap gun that my MOTHER purchased for me in WoolWorths. Again, i never got into trouble over it.
....also drew pictures of my 7th grade social studies teacher pinned to the wall with me throwing darts at him. Did i "want" to hurt him? No, i just didn't like him too much and thought it funny to throw darts at him on paper. Ok, i do admit hitting him with a few spitballs using a straw. Did i get into trouble for it? No, because i didn't get caught.
The world has definately changed since then and we're making our youth into little grownups instead of leaving them as children. To slap handcuffs on them is totally over the top. What the hell is this world coming to? Boys will be boys and i can bet my paycheck that those boys didn't even think about doing something like that in "real life". Perhaps a session in the principals office and some counseling is all that was needed. I think the grown ups are the ones who need counseling....they forgot what it was like to be kids themselves.
The world is my urinal
