Zoner, most people's complaints about CKR stems not from 'newbie STG whores' but from the imbalance it brings to the game. In stock the shotgun tends to be over-used by a lot of players and, as has been pointed out, it's cancerous. You get one 'shotty whore' you got tons.

This severely ruins the game for other people and you can either adapt, as you say, or leave. The thing is, as players get better, they start to adapt much more and slowly, but surely, the shotgun isn't the weapon of choice, it's a weapon of situation.

People tend to only use it when it's warrented (V2 clan matches, perhaps) and it is a great weapon if used in moderation.

This is because the stock game is balanced (to an extent) making the shotgun only 100% effective on certain maps and in certain situations.

What CKR does to the STG is make it 100% effective in any situation on any map. You get the cancerous syndrome a lot more and a lot more frequently.

The shotgun is useable by both teams, the STG (unless picked up) only by the Axis. This leads to disruptive team balance and, eventually, ends up ruining the game at some time of the night.

I have to leave CKR servers much more frequently due to over-population of STGs (and as such un-even teams) than I ever have to leave stock servers due to too many shotguns.

At any rate, even if you suffer for one map from a shotgun you are sure to get your own back on the next map (Think South France, followed by Destroyed Village).

So, I naturally tend to enjoy non CKR much more, as I tend to spend more time playing and less time connecting.

This is my opinion, my preference. I am fully aware that CKR is more popular than stock (statistically, at least - the various polls on this site would suggest that). I also realise why.

I just don't agree with it and only play it when I feel it's needed (ie I wish to play you guys).

I don't consider anyone who uses an STG as a newbie, even if they use it exclusively. I just hate having to constantly change server to find a battle that is even.
