Wow. The slant of this story is totally different from what I took from the General's press conference. He basically said that they cannot find any evidence of a Koran being flushed down the toilet by a guard. It did not happen! They did have an incident where one of the detainees tore pages out of his own Koran and flushed them. The other incidents, which are given top reporting in this story, were given as the only examples they could find of mishandling and that the guards involved had been disciplined. The focus of the statements by the General is that guards are taught to have the utmost respect for the book and that any mistreatment of it could cause violence among the prisoners or at the least cause a prisoner to be uncooperative. He said they are taught that most Muslims wash their hands before handling the book and that any contact by a non-muslim should be avoided, but that if it must be touched then it should be handled with respect. ....anyway, it seems that once again the press likes to sensationalize the negatives instead of the positives.

The press remind me of Beavis and Butthead. They can hear a whole speech by the President and their response is..."heh, heh, He said 'but', heh, heh".
