I don't follow. People still fear death, and even if there isn't an after life you wont know, your dead.
Besides most "Christian ideals" and morals arn't Christian to begin with. Keep in mind Christianty didn't coin morals. Murder has been a bad thing for thousands of years, along with rape, theft, etc.
You don't need religion to be a good, righteous person.
IMHO, the Beatitudes are the most important set of principles in Christianity.
