That's not true. At my high school, it would take at least 4 inches to close school. And that's in Virginia, so that's pretty strict on school closings.
It makes sense for it to be tougher to close schools in Canada and northern states though because if they did it by the same standards as warmer states, they would be closed all the time and you would have to have school into the summer...It's just for the sake of practicality. Plus I'm assuming people up there get used to the snow and are more prepared for how to handle it (and drive better in it) cause lord knows nobody can drive in Northern Virginia anyway, much less with snow. |
