[quote="Short Hand":3d54a]Canada has had gang problems since the early 80's.(Toronto/Montreal) BUT the GUN PROBLEMS related to gangs and the massive increase in gun related homicides has risen ever since the illegal flow of American handguns have come in. rolleyes: .........[/quote:3d54a]
Sorry, I must have missed this post the first time around. Anyway, If Canada has had a rise in gun violence only in the last few years it makes me wonder, could it be due to Canada's newer, more restrictive gun ownership laws? I can't remember the details but didn't Canada pass a registration program a few years back? And i seem to remember they banned certain types of weapons and maybe even confiscated some after the folks registered them. This old brain is fuzzy so I might be wrong about that. Anyway, it would seem to me that an increase in the flow of illegal guns could be a result of those laws, and also the crooks assume that a law abiding guy would not have a gun so he feels bolder.
Of course, none of this may be related. It could be the bad guys are just shooting each other more because they've all been playing too many video games and watching violent movies.
