Many cases, the major requires a C or better in a class in order for it to count for your major. So you may technically pass with a C- and not fail it, but you'd have to take it over again b/c your major requires the higher grade.

thats how my major is. I need a C- to get credit for any elective. For courses I need for my major I need a Solid C to get the credit.
