rolleyes:
Like I said, movies dont have to try and "change the world" or "make a point" to be enjoyable. JEEPERS CREEPERS knew EXACTLY what it was - dumb quick fun. Sorry MACHETTE buti a I dont have to have my movies carry with them some silly "oh look how informed I am" weight to them. . .but hey, if name dropping TCG and SYRIANA get you some mad liberal art school pussy - go fucking nuts.
That still doesnt make the movie anything other than a plodding, boring mess. Great - third world countries are suffering under [inserthere]-epidemics, and being taken advantage of by ethically challanged multi-nats. Woohoo - you still could have had the same message and made it interesting.
Shit at least with JC - you got an ending worth the 2 hours spent dling.

i totally agree with ed ... i dont think your taste in anything says a thing about your character / intelligence. I do think that if you tend to like every single socially aware / intellectual type of entertainment out at the moment then you are probably trying too hard to prove that you are a socially aware/ intelectual type.
the reason i like tcg had nothing to do with its intellictual plot, but with the 'love story'. i hated syriana, and munich and liked both of the jeepers movies.[/quote:7bd1a]
I think it's more about the fact that he stated his reason for not liking it as "too much dialogue," he may not like the film for any other reason, because it could be crap (I stayed away from this one because personally I didn't think I'd enjoy it because it looked quite slow-moving), but if you say you don't like a movie solely because there is too much dialogue it leads people to believe that you can't keep up with the film and can't understand what its about - Therefore it becomes about personal ability to comprehend information, and not about taste....But I absolutely see what you're saying and I agree...I think if taste dictated personality, the world would be an entirely different place.
P.S - I kind of liked Jeepers Creepers, except that I thought the monster bird man dude thing wasn't as frightening as it could have been....I didn't like the second one because I disliked those fucking high schoolers and that main dude with the blonde hair, wat a fagit...
