A lot of Americans still live around areas with unpaved roads, so ground clearance and 4x4 capabilities are usefull. Plus in the snowy areas of the US its good to have 4x4 gas guzzlers. Its not all for show dude dance:
I drive a 4cyl single cam saturn that gets 40mpg and when its winter time im praying that one day i can get a 4x4 car or truck for the winter.[/quote:7ad26]
DING DING DING we have a winner. The majority of truck and suv owners live in rural or small town communities. In my town trucks and AWD cars or 4x4 vehicles are almost a necessity. Also when you live in a town that measures 20 sq. miles you dont do much driving. I used ot fill up my truck(gets 18-22 mpg) every other week just because I did so little driving. now that I drive a lot of long distance I have a car because of comfort and cost. It used to cost me ~ $60 to get to school from my house in my truck. now it cost $10 with my car. It all depends on the driving and what you can afford.
